tbf Scaffolding are pleased to be involved in the refurbishment of popular Ipswich town centre pub, PJ McGintys & Sons, still officially known as the Halberd Inn.
The team at tbf Scaffolding were approached by Mill Construction in September 2018 to provide the scaffolding that will enable the redecoration of the exterior of the Irish pub, which is on Northgate Street.
The scaffolding operatives involved in this unique project have given meticulous care and attention when erecting the scaffolding to the exterior elevations on Northgate Street, Tower Ramparts and Crown Street, due to the Grade II listed status of the building.
The work began in October 2018 after special permission was granted to renovate the building. Today it is a bustling pub where as well as food and drink, patrons can meet to watch sport and enjoy live music. However the building is also renowned for being haunted, with rumours of paranormal activity, including the sound of a beating heart in the walls, eerie shadows and heavy beer barrels being mysteriously moved!
Karen Wilson, General Manager at tbf Scaffolding, said: “We are excited to be involved in this project. It is a fantastic pub in the heart of our county town. An historic building always brings individual challenges, which our expert team relish in overcoming.”
The scaffolding is due to be removed in November 2018, with the pub reopening on 29th November 2018.
